    Default Wheeler Lake

I'm seeing some interest on the threads in running Wheeler Lake, so I'm posting it up to determine a date. I am open and prefer Saturdays, but I could be persuaded to play hooky from work and go on a Friday. I'm thinking we need to start early if we go Saturday to get ahead of the crowds and a little later start if it's Friday. It is an in/out trail and can get congested at the more technical spots and at the top.
Anyone interested? If so, let me what date.

    Interested.

Sat a pref but could do a [EDIT: WEEKDAY] or Sun.

    Sooner than later (date wise)

It's a 3 hour drive from Fort Collins.

EDIT: It looks like the cleanup run might happen on Sat 9/19 (it has the most votes so far)

Thursdays would be ideal as crowds should be non-existent. Next interest would possibly be a Friday but would still want to be plenty early. Dates are fairly open.

I have looked at vids of this trail in the past but am still wondering if it is suitable for 33s and open open?

I would say a short wheelbase jeep with 33s is fine...but I am probably not as conservative as some. I've run it twice in my cj5 on 33s - first time I was open-open. Its not as tough as Chinaman's - and the the first v-notch obstacle can be avoided by driving up the rock just to the left of the v-notch (middle left - not the far left wall). The hard part will be bowling ball hill - good chance you'll have a couple thunks on the underside as the rocks kind of move around on you.

Looks like Saturday Sept. 12th is the best day for Wheeler Lake. The trail clean up is on Sept. 19th, already taking this Thursday off to run Spring Creek and saving a couple of weekdays to run Holy Cross and Chinaman Gulch before the snow starts. Starting a thread in Planned Trails.
