Default Old Jeeper new to this forum

Hi everyone. I just signed up and wanted to say hi. I've been on Jeep forums since I bought my first XJ back in 2000. I moved to CO going on 6 years ago. I've been active off and on getting up into the mountains but not much in the last two years. I'm down to just two Jeeps right now. I have an XJ on 32s with true tracs front and rear. I also have a project MJ that's going to be on tons and 40's with an LS swap that I'm just getting started with. In the mean time I'll be keeping to the moderate trails in the XJ.

I also run the www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html gear ratio calculator that some people may have seen before.

Looking forward to going out with the group sometime.

    Welcome to the group!

I visited your ratio calc - quite nice / easy to use with transmission & TC model info easily selectable.

The plan is still a work in progress but I have a solid start.

I have a set of Superduty axles. I went with the narrower 99-04 front 60. It's getting upgraded to 35 spline outers. The rear Dana 80 is out of a cab and chassis F350 and matches the front as far as width. They'll both get 5.38 gears and ARB lockers.

I already have the Artec truss for the front axle and frame side brackets for a custom long arm in the front. I'm going to do a triangulated 4 link rear. The bed of the truck is shot so I am looking at various options from a custom bed to full truggy build, leaning more towards the former. I'll probably do coilovers but I haven't planned out details yet.

I'm just going to stick with a basically stock 5.3/4L60E out of a GM truck/SUV. I'm not looking at building a hot rod. I have a Ford NP205 and I'm looking at an ORD Monster Box. But frame width may be an issue so a 2 speed Atlas would be my other choice.

Other things like an exo-cage, hydroboost brakes, ram assist steering (staying street legal), and a few other things are on the books.

Unlike all of my previous builds, I'm building the solid plan ahead of time. I've had too many Jeeps over the years that were compromised by not thinking things through and not ending up with what I really wanted.

In the end it should be able to do about 99% of the trails out there. So I'll be able to do every trail I want to.

Now I just have to be patient while the budget for parts works itself out.
