Default Dispursed camping area near Grand Lake/Granby/or Winterpark

Hey the wife and I are wanting to take our popup up to the area around Winterpark to Grand Lake. We will be towing with my 4x4 Silverado and we have a pretty big non lifted popup so we need easy roads. We are hoping there is some dispersed camping up in that area we can get to with the camper. All of the area's .gov sites are always booked up. Anyone know of any good roads that have dispersed sites. We are thinking of something similar to Geneva creek road we go to off of Guanella pass or Hall valley road.

    Thanks

Maybe something off of County Highway 4 (stillwater pass)?

Crooked Creek / Keyser Creek / Beaver Creek area west of Fraser has a lot of large sites, and Williams Fork Reservoir also has some nice sites for trailers.

There are many spots west of the town of Winter park on Tunnel Hill Road (FS 152) and Leland Creek Road (FS 159) near Vasquez Road. Normally you go into the town of Winter Park and go west on Vasquez Road. But Vasquez is closed for construction on the bottom. You can get around that by going to Fraser and turning left at the Wendy's. This goes up CR72 and turns into FS158. Head up 158 until you get to 159 and take a left. Head towards Vasquez (it is open at the top). Good time to go now since the closure prevents people from getting up there. The roads are easy dirt roads maintained by Denver Water board.

this is a good option, but only if you're getting out there early Friday or Thursday afternoon. last time we tried, we got there Friday afternoon and there were tons of people out there already and we drove for over an hour and didn't find a place. we ended up going back into GL and find a regular campground spot.

also note, there's TONS of people ripping those roads on ATVs all weekend long. it's super dusty and loud.

Elk Creek Camp. Not dispursed, but we stayed at this one a few times and really enjoyed it. Really close to Grand lake (1 mile maybe). We got to see moose there! https://www.elkcreekcamp.com/

Thank you all for the great suggestions. We're actually thinking of riding winter park's mountain bike trails on Saturday so being closer to WP is a win also. I appreciate the tips. This makes me feel better driving up there this Friday and knowing where to go find a spot without getting into trouble on a bad road towing a camper.
