We thoroughly enjoyed our quick trip to BV. Spent the first day kayaking and riding bikes and our electric scooter around the local lakes and parks.
On the second day, our daughter and her friend (both 15) quickly got the hang of driving the ATV. As the day progressed, I gave both kids time behind the wheel of my Jeep as well. They both did great! I was really impressed with how well my daughter handled the obstacles. She stopped (or at least slowed), picked her own lines and proceeded slowly without advise or spotting!
The trail was exactly what we were hoping for. It took nearly all day, but we covered the whole thing (and a few spurs) and got out just before the rain. We returned the ATV about 15 minutes early. We will definitely go back and do this one again. The kids had such a great time and there is still so much more that we could have done if we had more time.
The trail itself has some awesome views and a variety of terrain. I was pleasantly surprised to come up on a shelf road with some tree roots and rocks that could cause you to go a off-camber a bit. (I had to take the wheel at that point because my daughter's friend was driving the Jeep and her only experience before that was in her mom's minivan in the high school parking lot). After the shelf, there was a short, but fun stretch of rock crawling that was fun. The trail also included a lot of whoop-dee-doos, fairly steep ascents and descents on loose dirt/sand, a large stretch of pretty deep sand that was really fun, and even a little water crossing that made me laugh because both kids were on the ATV ahead of us.
I got a few pics along the way, but not many because we kept moving!
