    Default New Bronco Discussion

We're starting to see more teaser photos of the new Bronco:
    https://www.motor1.com/news/432954/2...o-teaser-date/

Looks like I was proven wrong, I thought they were going to go the Land Rover / Grand Cherokee Trailhawk route and try to make an IFS and IBS "Wrangler-killer" but I see solid axle!

Its cool to have an American brand competitor to the Wranglers. Consumers win when they fight!

I thought it still had IFS though, doesn't that make it more of a 4runner competitor?

Yep, if it has IFS I would say so. They're marketing very highly against the "Wrangler" though, I think even outright saying that's their target.

Without a solid front axle, I don't see how it competes with a Wrangler for true off roading. However, for the large majority of buyers who never take their vehicle off road and just want an aspirational "adventure" vehicle to be seen in, IFS should be a point in the Bronco's favor for better road handling.

As a former IFS offroader, I agree. I think they're targeting a similar audience as the Raptor but in small-mid size SUV form. Desert running with some of the milder to mid level rock trails, without need to modify. I think those looking to modify (suspension lifts, bumpers) would still choose the Wrangler.

Trent was right on the IFS. 35" tires right out of the factory though is pretty awesome.

A V8 would be awesome (Wrangler or Bronco)... wonder who'll be the first to market with a SAS kit for the Bronco?

Im actually interested in more details about their 4 door with Sasquatch. 35s out of the factory with front and rear lockers is a nice package. There are a bunch of features that are probably $$$ options, such as the dash board gear rack, which might be killer features. I also see a hard top roof rack that seems to work even if roof panels are removed. Looks far more family friendly than my LJ, but so is a JLU. With Sasquatch, I think a 4dr Bronco would be more capable than my LJ on 33s right out off the lot, which isn't something I'd be certain of for any non-rubicon JL.

I love it, I'd get a two door / 7speed. Next year I just might, if life normalizes enough to take on a payment.

The 2 door is better looking and the 7 speed seems like it'd be fun. Not sure if I could convince the family to go with a 2 door again. The kids really don't like the 2 door access in the LJ. If I were to buy something like this, a JLU, or a Gladiator-type vehicle, I'd probably replace my LJ and my daily driver, so would need something that keeps the wife and kids reasonably happy for daily use.

I'd sell my LJ and my DD too. I don't really care about the DD and the LJ has been an awesome trail rig for 10 years now, I would enjoy a change.

I liked the 4 door better, looked a bit less like a toy to me. I'd buy the 4 door, 10 speed with 35" tires if I was in the market today.

That seems like the most likely trim for me. I'm in the market in the next couple years for *something* to replace my outback. Since it was totaled in a hail storm a couple summers ago, I've been waiting for the right thing to replace it with and enjoying driving a cheap car while waiting.

I looked closely at the model comparison brochure, and it looks like maybe the disconnectable front swaybar is only available on the Badlands trim. That seems curious when the Sasquatch package can be put on any model and comes with front and rear E-lockers, beefed up front axles, and 35s

Now I'm undecided, the 4door has a lot of appeal too, as does a 10speed auto. Good thing there's time to decide!
