    Default Off Road Jack

Like a lot of peeps I carry a Hi Lift jack as part of my recovery gear. I also carry a 3 ton bottle jack and some wood to set it on with the idea of jacking directly under the axle if needed. I'm looking at downsizing some of the "stuff" I carry and among other things the bottle jack is on the list to go (potentially). So I was wondering what some of you guys carry for lifting/jacking the vehicle? Just a Hi Lift? Only a bottle jack? No jack? Exhaust Jack? Floor Jack?

I'm trying to get down into just a single tool bag of stuff for the trail.

I carry the Pro Eagle 3 ton off-road jack in my Powerwagon. Way safer and easier to use than a Hi-Lift and I use it to rotate my 37” tires on the truck with ease! Warning, it’s not cheap!

I only carry the emergency jack that came with the Jeep. I might regret only having this one with me some day, but I've never needed a jack on the trail in 3 years of wheeling so far.

I carry the oem jack and a hi lift. Used the hi lift once to replace a flat due to valve stem being ripped off on the trail.

Hi-Lift and have used it where a bottle jack (also something I 'sometimes' carry) would have needed a fair bit of snow removal and blocks to be useful.

I've considered putting the factory jack back into the jeep - it'd take the place of a bottle jack and does not weight as much (Hi-Lift as a ready option).

I also carry a single sided ratchet strap to strap the axle to the frame so I don't have to jack the bumper to the sky to get the tire off of the ground.

Got rid of the factory jack years ago as it would max out before even lifting the Jeep enough to raise a tire off the ground. Carried a HiLift for many years but honestly they scare the hell out of me. I added a combination bottle jack/jack stand to my tool box and really like it.

This is what I use at home. If I was going out alone on a long trip, I'd bring this. It is a very useful jack and I appreciate the integrated stand.

I ditched the high lift years ago and now just carry a bottle jack with a SWAG axle cradle and high-lift base to set it on.

I got lucky and came across this jack for $5 at a garage sale several years ago. It's been in one of my recovery boxes ever since. And has come in very handy several times.

I carry a bottle jack I got off of ebay from an f350, it's the telescoping kind so it goes quite high, as well as a high lift. I hear from so many people they carry a high lift for years and never use it, I've used mine 3 times in the last year alone. I like snow wheeling though and in the snow it's just great for putting on the rock sliders, jacking the whole side of the vehicle up and throwing maxtrax under both wheels, then repeat for the other side. I could definitely do the same thing with a bottle jack I guess, might just be a holdover from before I got the tall bottle jack. Next time I go to reach for my hilift maybe I'll try the bottle jack first and see if it does everything I need.
