Default Some Moab history - Charles Steen

An interesting read. What is now the Sunset Grill was a home he built. The mine, Mi Vida, is south of town, east of 191, before the turn to the west for the Needles District / Elephant Hill.

I could see a trip to the mine entrance.

    Mine:

My fathers' first job in summer of 1957 after he graduated from Colo School of Mines was working on a mobile drilling rig that was prospecting for Uranium. He didn't work it for very long (a few months at most iirc) as he ended up taking a fall from the derrick or something like that and breaking a leg...when he healed he went another direction and the uranium drilling boom was dying.

Another interesting read about Arches National Park and the Moab area is "Desert Solitaire: A Season in the Wilderness" written by Edward Abbey who was the very first park ranger in Arches National Park.
