    Default Pickle Gulch/Shaft House

Nice day to be on the trail. We met up at the trailhead and ran Pickle Gulch, then out to the shaft house. We turned around on one spur at a snow field as there was quite a large drift not far beyond it. A few pics below.

That was the only road that had that much snow. Most only had pockets on the sides and in the ditches. A lot of melting though, the one shot showed the water running down the trail.

Not sure if it was the leftover moisture, but the normally loose scree hill was a non-issue today, almost seemed packed.

Great time today, it was fun getting lost on the way to the shafthouse, and Pickle Gulch itself was fun as always. The highlight of the run for me was the way out, Trent led us up the big hill at the Snowden Mine. I've never gone up it before, it was pretty intense. I made a slight error in judgement at the top that worked out but... I know what I'd do differently next time! Thanks to everyone, it was great. I have a bunch of pics and video, here's a couple for now:

A couple of screen shots from video from today. the first one is going back down the first mistake, it was steep and water was running down it, but it was not particularly slippery. If you look at the track you can see our second and third mistakes too. The second pic is at the Shafthouse.

None of the "mistake" spurs were marked, to my recollection. Where we got turned back by snow is a 3-way split on the trail, but the MVUM only shows 2 marked paths at the 3-way split. Lots of confusion about turns due to lack of markings and many more obviously used spurs in person than on the map.
