Default has anyone ever looked into reopening a trail?

many years ago when i first started exploring in my jeep there were quite a few connections on the upper range roads.

One fun drive used to be West White Pine. Is it a pipe dream to re open something? it was originally closed to the fire. seems like more and more trails close sadly. I remember running crystal mountain right before it closed, or while it was supposed to be haha.

Just figured ide ask, I miss some of the old routes that got me to where I am now.

The FS says West White Pine had a mud slide after the fire that made it impassable, my response was I'd like to go try it. If you could come up with a plan and the resources to repair it maybe it could be reopened.

Crystal Mtn goes through state trust land. I talked to the state trust and just get the run around, they say it's up to the lessee if people can access it, the lessee says the trust makes them keep people out.

After viewing it with Google maps, post fire photos, I'd gamble that's the excuse offered to the public to keep it closed / only for access to the houses & cabins in the area.

This area _might_ have a minor wash

That's pretty far from the road. This is West White Pine. Looks to be fairly washed out.

My wish list of trails to reopen is:

    1. Left Hand Canyon area - never wheeled here and heard it was awesome. Closed from 2013 floods but is open to hiking and mountain biking so I知 sure plenty of wheeling could be done if it was open

    2. Peirson Park Road (joined Estes Park to Johnny Park area). Closed by 2013 floods also. Mudslide about 5 miles in from either side (East side of Twin Sisters Peak) closed this and now both trails dead end about 1/4-1/2 mile from each other. I知 sure it would be relatively easy to join the two sides now - the land has settled and there is no risk of slides from what I can tell.

I'd love to see the Needle's Eye Tunnel reopened, that would be awesome to drive.

There is an illegal connector on Pierson...

Mme too! If I won a crazy lotto (yea, right), I'd look at getting it opened (repaired or removed).

Maybe even look at opening the trestles...

It is an awesome drive and so are the trestles. I remember going over with my parents several times in the 1960's.

Talk about awesome and scary as ****, try cross country skiing over the trestles in the winter with the snow hard packed at a 35 degree angle away from the mountain.

I would love for Lefthand to be reopened. That was one of my favorite trails.

Carnage on Lefthand was even better.

My #1 favorite trail. So much variety and difficulty. Plus I could be on the trail in 20 minutes from where I lived in Boulder back then!

I loved how quick I could get there when I lived in Firestone.

Does anyone know the process to get a trail permanently closed? There must be some policy and procedure on it - where reopening might be a somewhat similar reversal of that P&P process.

There are several ways they can close a road, most of these we have been talking about have been closed by the District Ranger where they are located based on conditions of the road.
