Default Dana 44 Steering and info advice

    Looking for advice.
I have a 89 Wrangler, with 3 inch lift springs.
Recently purchased a Dana 44 LP narrow track from an early Grand wagoneer.
Sounds the axle swap is pretty easy !
The confusion on my end is the broad language of Dana 44.
Theres lots of parts for sale. No one really specifies to what to parts can from it just says "dana 44"

How do you decipher what dana 44 parts go to what
Or are most or all 44 parts compatible?
For example are 70s jeep D44 knuckles compatible with jk 44 kuckels?
To Ford, chevy, jeep kuckels cross over?

    Also looking for steering advice.
For my Yj Im going to be running Spring under.
Going High steer knuckles seems excessive.
I get it, more clearance is great but going Spring under and Low pinion Im already limited.

What are some recommendations of you for steering.

Man it feels kinda weird being back in the 4x4 world!
Seems like I lost so much information!

    Thank you for your responses

For things like replacement parts, Dana has catalogs that outline all of the replacement component part numbers by axle BOM number. That number should be stamped into the long tube of the axle. I assume that BOM in this case stands for Bill of Materials. I recently used a pdf of one of these catalogs to find the correct clutch kit for my rear D44 trakloc but now I am struggling to find it again.... but you should start to get an idea of what crosses over from different makes and years with one of these. I'll keep looking for it.

As for aftermarket parts I think you'll have to double check with the part manufacturer.

I believe there are quite a few differences between JK D44s and older D44s but I am not sure of the specifics.

    Try this:

Its not loading properly for me, but I am running so many ad blockers and what not these things rarely do run well for me.

Of course I click on a few links and find it almost immediately after writing that post...

This is what I used... but it only runs back to 1999:

There's a good chance you will find some more useful information if you search the rest of their media library:

I think the forum truncates long hyperlinks... these are two catalogs of 67-78 and 78-98 assemblies.

Other than just chasing google searches, this guy has a ton of how-to write ups and tech articles. Might give it a search and see if there's anything.

JK D44 are pretty bastardized from just about every other version, so I doubt there is much interchangeable with a 70s axle.
