Maybe this is the year I finally get up to the sand hills. I still haven't been.
_IF_ you have the time, entering or exiting from the east / Laramie River Valley, is a nice option.
what Jim said. there is work going on right now on Larimie River road; as soon as that is done and the trails leading up to it, ie. sevenmile, old flowers rd, are open I want to go. It's such a fun place!
I could see a long weekend (two overnight perhaps) - Poudre Canyon trails to start - heading westbound - then camp "east" or "west" of Laramie River Road for the first night. Then up-n-over to the sand hills the next morning. Set camp. Sand hills for the day. Overnight at the sand hills and head out the next day - either spending some trail time at the sand hills or spending some trail time southwest of Cameron Pass.
"One of these days" I have to drive over the mountains from north park to Steamboat - checking out trails north of Steamboat (and south too!).
