    Default Moab Nov 24

Beautiful weather today, with sun and comfortably warm weather despite what the thermometer may have said.

We started the day on Seven Mile Rim trail. This trail seems to have a little bit of everything that Moab is known for: slick rock climbs, sandy washes, beautiful canyon vistas, and plenty of red dirt. I've not run this trail before, but will quickly recommend it as a good introductory trail. The trail is rated as challenging in the Funtreks guidebook, similar to Fins N Things and Elephant Hill. However, if you have a rig built up like many of ours are, this trail is interesting but not challenging. The trail is also listed as requiring 5.5 hours, but we finished in around 4 hours. Thus we had time for a second trail.

With several hours of daylight remaining after finishing Seven Mile Rim, we headed back towards Moab to run Fins N Things. Fins was fun as always, and not particularly crowded for a Sunday afternoon. Several of the interesting climbs in the north half of the trail were very challenging with the late afternoon sun directly in our eyes. We bypassed a couple of climbs that we could normally clear due to limited visibility climbing towards the sun.

My daughter captured a few photos, so I'll try to follow up later with some images when we pull those off her camera.

Thanks for starting this Trent. 7 Mile is a fun trail with several good obstacles. The "tippy spot" is the highlight and is a bit intimidating, see the first picture. This also had some good slick rock where the only way to find the trail was to follow some white stripes painted on the rock. It was my first time on Fins, it was a fun trail as well, a bit wet in spots, but the sun was in a bad place as seen below, tough to see obstacles much less the vehicle in front of you.

I'm kicking myself seeing I missed not one, but two Moab trips. Doh! That looks super fun.

I wondered where you've been the last month. How's the new house?

Pretty wonderful. My back yard ends at the edge of Barker reservoir, it's quiet, the view I wake up to out my bedroom window is awesome, and I have a heated 3 car garage. Been busy unpacking (so much left to do there) and fixing up little things for fun. I would have jumped in on any of the Switzerland runs had I even opened this site in the past month but missed out of on them. Still had fun roaming around during the last snow storm.

Maybe we can get a Moab trip together in the spring sometime, before it gets hot out there.
