Beautiful weather today, with sun and comfortably warm weather despite what the thermometer may have said.
We started the day on Seven Mile Rim trail. This trail seems to have a little bit of everything that Moab is known for: slick rock climbs, sandy washes, beautiful canyon vistas, and plenty of red dirt. I've not run this trail before, but will quickly recommend it as a good introductory trail. The trail is rated as challenging in the Funtreks guidebook, similar to Fins N Things and Elephant Hill. However, if you have a rig built up like many of ours are, this trail is interesting but not challenging. The trail is also listed as requiring 5.5 hours, but we finished in around 4 hours. Thus we had time for a second trail.
With several hours of daylight remaining after finishing Seven Mile Rim, we headed back towards Moab to run Fins N Things. Fins was fun as always, and not particularly crowded for a Sunday afternoon. Several of the interesting climbs in the north half of the trail were very challenging with the late afternoon sun directly in our eyes. We bypassed a couple of climbs that we could normally clear due to limited visibility climbing towards the sun.
My daughter captured a few photos, so I'll try to follow up later with some images when we pull those off her camera.
