Holy Cross 09.21.2019

Derek and I ran Holy Cross today. We had a blast. No mechanical issues and no body damage as we ran it at a leisurely pace and spotted for each other often. Derek just installed Metal Cloak springs and shocks. The flex is amazing. I've only done a few local trails, but Holy Cross is now at the top of my list for fun. I was expecting to see a lot of people on the trail, but there was only 3 other vehicles besides us, a TJ on 35's, a 4Dr JKU Hemi Tons/40's, and a buggy. Steep Rock and French Creek were a definite challenge. We just looked in awe at Cleveland Rock, I'm thinking buggy territory. Pictures and videos to come shortly.

You made it look too easy.

I was wondering where the line was...now I know. I saw a winch point over to the right of where you were.

That's the line most people take. Over to the right you need a lot of belly clearance. I came down that side and hit my belly a lot.

This trail did not disappoint! When I committed to this trail run I was in the middle of a new suspension and bumper install which took longer than expected. I barely had my rig trail ready by midnight the morning of, but I made it and I’m really happy with how everything went.


Great weather, no issues, an awesome time of year to be in the mountains. For anyone curious I installed metalcloak 2.5” springs with rocksport shocks, stock control arms, (37” wildpeak tires for reference).


I am happy with the new suspension; its flexy and even handled the washboard roads very well, in fact driving out of the valley as the sun was starting to fall was one of the highlights of the day for me.
