Friend of mine through the earlycj5 forum is selling his sweet rig known as 'posi' (he recently bought and built up an LJ - wanted something more comfortable). John is one of the trail maintainers for the Rubicon (he lives in Carson City, NV - where the jeep is) and its probably run the Rubicon over 100 times. This jeep has been featured in JP magazine, and is a bit of custom mix of pieces, but its still possibly the most capable early cj I know. Actually, its a 67cj5 tub on a custom extended m38a1 (military cj5) frame with a later AMC era front clip to cover some the frame extension. Its about the same size as a cj-7. The details in the rig go well beyond the suspension upgrades (SOA YJ set-up) such as the axle and gearing upgrades (ARB locked D30/44s with 5.38s and FF), TBI, transmission upgrades, disc brakes, reset knuckles and pinon angles, custom fabbed armour, boxed and lengthed frame - all done by John himself. I think he's built pretty much the ideal rig...actually it might be a touch overbuilt for me...although this rig has been an inspiration for me in terms of Tera low gears, TBI, some of the custom rocker protection, lockers etc. But there is now way I could build this rig for the price he listed - just boxing and lengthening the frame would be out of my league...I am running the Rubicon with John this summer - I was hoping he would take 'posi,' but looks like he is going to use the LJ.
If anyone is interested....let me know and I'll put you in contact with him....I am trying not to be interested myself, but I've spent over half of what he is asking on mine and its nowhere near what posi is.
