Good chance I can, just need to finish the muffler and have work go right all week long. I will let you know after work on Thursday

Great, hope it all goes well! The weather looks pretty good, sunny in the morning and 50% chance of rain from about 12 on. I'm putting my doors and top on to make sure it won't rain.
Bad timing, but I like what they're doing. I think we should reschedule, the guy who posted this to Expedition: Colorado advises staying off the trail those days as "congestion will be heavy". There is little off-trail space available there so for sure they will block the trail as they go. I don't want to park on the trail and wait for them to do their thing, I'm not interested in getting involved with it, and Wheeler will be there another day without the work crew to work around. If anyone else wants to volunteer they need help:
"MHJC Patrol 2 and the USFS have been working all summer to plan and execute a major fencing project on Wheeler Lake this summer. Well, the time has come to execute on the plan. We will be installing several hundred feet of post and cable fencing to block off "off trail" areas which are getting more traffic than they should.
This is where you come in. We need help. We need vehicles, and bodies. Mostly we need assistance to transport materials from the Wheeler Lake Trailhead to the lake. It's on the order of 40-50 posts, a similar number of bags of quickcrete, and hundreds of feet of cable. And there is equipment needed to drill post holes and complete the installation.
We're asking that those who are available to help meet at the Wheeler Lake Trailhead at 8:30am on Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th of August (this Friday and Saturday). We do have a 6x6 truck which has been committed which should help a lot with the heavier stuff (and probably make for some good photos/videos). Bring lunch, work gloves, and footwear.
Hope to see you Friday and Saturday!"

What if we redirected to a different set of trails? I’d hate to waste a day off from work myself
Dang it! Worked hard to get my rig ready for this and probably will have no problem getting my work done, If you guys do redirect to a trail of interest (don't watt do the same old same old) I am still in. But other wise I think I might just go for a hike some where.
Perhaps a run around the McAllister Gulch, Wearymen Creek, Resolution Mt. Area for the day?
Paul,
I sincerely appreciate the efforts of all involved in maintaining trails. However, I am in the same situation as some others here, in that I don't get much time off, and would like to wheel as much as possible. I hope the project goes well, and THANK YOU!
I’m down for wherever I just want to get out!
just changed the event to Cancelled, and unchecked RSVPs since there is nothing to RSVP to. We'll get it some other time!
I think I will run the McAllister wearyman area for the day. I have a coworker that took the day to go with me so I don’t want to disappoint. Any takers?
Bummer. Late September early October would be a good time to run Wheeler when fall colors are at peak.

Wife and I are thinking of doing Kingston Peak with the hike to James Peak Lakes first. I've wanted to hike that since I first saw it, and the weather looks great.......
What other big trails could the off work folks hit?
Chinamans would be a good option for challenge...not quite as scenic but a very fun trail.
Red Cone would fit the bill for high alpine scenery and some challenge.

Grizzly lake would offer challenge and a lake. Mosquito pass would get some altitude, just not much challenge.

Anyone still interested in doing a run somewhere tomorrow?
So we have decided to run McCallister Gulch. I just want to take a drive in the hills and Greg is going to be up in the area. Andrew and I are going to meet at the Mammoth park-n-ride at 7 and head up to the Vail area ASAP. Hope to be at the trailhead around 9-9:30 Don't want to waist a perfectly good day off from working.
Looking forward to it
