    Default Yankee Hill 4-22-18

We managed to sneak away to the hills yesterday and test out the Jeep. Brakes are still basically worthless, can't hold the truck at a stop on a flat spot in 4 low. Still quite a bit of snow and a pretty wet muddy day. Weather was great and we made it to the top. While at the top we had an ATV on treads make it up to us, pretty cool toy.

    Nice snow covered mountain pix!

Why worthless brakes? Do you have the combo rear disk/integrated parking calipers from the early 80's cadillacs? I have these on the jeep and adjusting them is "interesting" (a PITA).

FWIW - I've moved to industrial syringe for bleeding tasks (pick'm up at the local Jax farm & ranch - they're used for medicine / mouth feeding of animals). Open bleed screw, syringe into Master Cyl - suck up brake fluid to fill syringe, press syringe into fluid port at base of mast cyl - press for a tight seal - inject to push brake fluid through the line. Each "injection" is perhaps 7x more fluid than one press of the brake pedal - much faster and one person operation.

have you changed your proportioning valve? the rear discs need more pressure than the OEM drums did, google know about it.

I have a hard pedal, pretty sure it's not air. Prop valve was changed when we removed ABS and installed new booster and high pressure master cylinder. I am thinking there is something wrong with the prop valve since the booster tests good. I have ordered a new gauge to test brake line pressure and track down the issue.

Hard pedal - have one person press pedal while another loosens one brake line fitting at a time (between mast cyl and prop valve?) to see where fluid sprays out - blockage likely downstream from that point (narrows down front circuit vs. rear circuit)?????
