WooHoo! We might not have mountains but you don’t have swamp buggy racing!
WooHoo! We might not have mountains but you don’t have swamp buggy racing!
When you buy'n in?
SwampBuggy4x4.com [SB4X4] license plate in your future?
This is Jeepin’ in water, none of that hub deep Colorado stuff!
OMG! Ha ha! That looks like a blast! (To do, and to spectate)
`wanna see how they protect the intake and ignition - pit pix please!
I remember watching swamp buggy racing on TV when I was a kid. The unlimited class is insane.
Come an Chris! Build a Jeep!
I might just introduce a Yota to this class!
It’s almost too much fun not to build something! Time to do a bit of research, how about these wheels!
WOW - True pizza cutters!
What's the bottom (of the pond) like - hard surface and not sandy????
So, um, how long of a drive is this pond from your place?
It’s about 15 minutes from us Jim. I haven’t read up on the vehicles or track to answer anything but here’s the winner of the pro-modified class yesterday.
Nice photos Michael, that’s the place!
OMG, that is NUTS!! That's like a cross between jet-fueled tractor pulls and hydrofoils on the Detroit river!
15 minutes from you - you won't have to trailer your swamp buggy too far then!
In the last pic the vehicle is on a decent angle - is the inboard rear drive wheel touching the ground? If not, what type of rear axle do they use? Solid / spool and let the inboard lift and not drag? Limited slip? Auto-lock?
I'll wait for the unlimited class to have a hydrofoil dip into the water - just inside of the R.F. wheel, to hold down the RF corner... As the suspension unloads, the hydrofoil pulls it back down - when down the foil flattens to not cause undue drag. Or maybe have it only take action when turning.
I went to these a couple times when i was a kid growing up in florida...the modified buggies run on top of the water. The rear tires are more like paddle tires - kind of like sand paddles but truly for water. There is one deeper spot they used to call the 'sippi hole (kinda like the end of Mississippi) - the modified rigs went over it like it wasn't there. They still ran a class of old school jeep buggies than run on the bottom of the track (with the pizza cutter wheels) - they struggled through the sippi hole as it was over the top of the hood. There was always a local 'queen of the swamp' pagent for local ladies - and the winner of the race would take the queen out in full regala and gown and jump with her into the water/mud.

`learned something new - they don't rely on bottom surface contact for forward motion - tire style depending.
What a good time!!! Lookin like a ton-o fun !!!! Way to blend in like you've always been there.....
I look forward to doing the same here, but muddin ?? I might rather still go climb a mountain....
But water skiing in a jeep sounds fun and look forward to watching for pics on a yota build for water !!!!!
I’m bummed! I found out the swamp buggy race season is over. I figured it to be year round here, disappointing for sure.
Phillip, mudding has zero appeal to me. I’d rather never wheel a truckagain than go mudding!
