I am so stoked for this trip! I'm trying to find as much info on the areas we can camp (vehicle). Went on a run with Mark yesterday, all is well with my front axle after my stupidity on Moab hill. (Hope I have learned my lesson????)

If you have never been down to that area you won't believe how beautiful this area of the country is. Pictures rarly capture what your eyes actually see. I really would like to take our time running the loop so that if anyone wants to stop to take photos or of course explore the minning areas, By alowing two days for the loop we should be able to do that.

I follow a guy on CherokeeTalk forum who lives in Telluride, he saiid that they have a Jazz festivel that particular weekend. I have never been to that town so if we do BlackBear on Sunday that would be a treat.

For sure David. Should be a fun time . I did a little research a while back and found info mostly on forum's about dispersed camping. Seems it is generally pretty far from Ouray but can not remember where they where saying it was. No matter, I'll camp anywhere my little 4Runner will fit.

Speaking of front axles, just pulled the trigger on a new Dynatrac ProRock 44 housing. Pretty certain this stock Dana 44 is bent.
Should be quite the learning experience swapping the stuff out of it into the new.

Yeah not knowing how to do gears is what holds me back from installing my axles. I want to be sure it's done right. And I have to much going on to get-er done now. I'll just have to behave myself, don't want to spoil the trip down there. I am thinking about after the trip swapping the rear danna 44 in and run it 2 wheel drive, to see if I like the 4.56 gears and 33"s on the street before fully commiting to it. I am a little worried that 4.10s would be a better fit? And run up $$$$$. In that case I would just toss the 8.25 back in until I can justify doing it.

Funny, just a few days ago I was thinking about getting down to Ouray and cross some of these trails off my bucket list. Seems like I may have some dates to go now.

Hopefully the rain stays away for you guys. We were there first weekend in August last summer and only had 2 days of sunshine. Rained all 5 of the other days.

Honestly, it was misty and raining 90% of the time my first time down there,
I have never seen it so beautiful, It would be nice to have good weather on Sunday
    evening.

From the trip Tom organized in 2015...

Some clouds can be an asset!
(though I could pass on the full-on rain)

I'm very interested, sounds like there will be some in the group that plan to car camp? If I join that would be my plan personally.

Ok I'm so stoked for this trip! I got to thinking about Sundays run. Weather permitting of course!. I would like to put this out there for Sunday. We can discuss On Saturday after the days run. But how about we split up the group and do this. Early in the morning those who want to run Black Bear pass run it as the rest who want to set out to run Imogene Pass. We set a time to met in Telluride for a group lunch at a time that will give us plenty of time to get there. Then return back via Imogene pass. Then (weather permitting) return to Ouray and hang out there. Then hit the pool in the evening to hang out in the spa area and also get the chance to clean-up so the last night camping we get a good sleep.

Yeah went to the gulches with someone from Texas, they wanted to do a day trip in their 4-runner and I went with them so they did not go it alone. Funny I did not see you. Was it in the morning or in the evening?

Like David, lets see if my "little" 4runner holds together long enough, however I would really be interested in that."

I was reading back through this thread, I met a guy that makes his own badges. They are swards that have the name and date of the trails he has slaine (completed). I wish I took a picture of them.
