Adopt a Trail Clean Up
Sat 9/23 at 9am
Meet at the FS ranger station at the hwy 103 (Mt Evans) exit off I-70 in Idaho Springs
We have 2 sponsored trails: Devils Canyon (DC) and Barbour Fork (BF)
This will be our second and final clean-up before these trails close for the season.
Additionally, the aspen should be turning color, and these trails have good views (especially DC).
We will split into two groups (one for each trail) before leaving the FS station, and each group will clean only on trail. Often, if the clean-up goes well, there is time to go run the other trail (or something else in the area). If you have strong preference for which trail you run, comment when you sign-up on calendar. Time frame is generally 6 or so hours - leaves time to run the other trail if you like in the later afternoon.
Please wear appropriate footwear (no open toe shoes at a minimum) and gloves (FS is making a point about this)
Helpful but not required:
Sturdy trash bags and buckets with carry handle are great for trash if you have them
Small hand garden tools and extra water are great for picking through fire rings and putting out fires
Trail information:
DC: https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/281-devil-s-canyon
BF: https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/212-barbour-fork
In short, DC is very stock friendly for any 4wd, and BF is a bit more challenging for longer and lower stock. A high clearance stock vehicle (e.g. jeep wrangler) should be fine with just a bit of driver skill and spotting at a couple places (and less concern about bumping or dragging the bottom a bit).
