For folks from the north who wish to caravan to the trail - meet spot info (Says Chris!!)

I'll suggest 8:30 am meet. Leaving at 9:00 am for China Wall.

For those going via hwy 285, the last good spot to get gas is in Bailey - but the gathering area isn't that large. People could get gas in Bailey and meet just up the road at the high school parking lot (Platte Valley HS) - shouldn't be an issue on the weekend in the summertime. Last year we met in the Safeway parking lot in Confier/Aspen Park and there is gas there as well as coffee (Starbucks). Guess that also provides a last chance to pick-up some food?

China wall is a big rough for a bone stock 2016 4runner on stock tires right?

Nope...it will would be fine. There are bypasses around the more challenging spots. Check out last year's run and see pics of the different vehicles - there was a mostly stock 4runner and izuzu trooper last year. I also saw a new stock Cherokee trailhawk on it one time. Its a great trail as it works for lots of different vehicles and capabilities.

For what it matters, China Wall is considered a designated OHV trail (at least according to this Stay the Trail list: http://staythetrail.org/content.aspx...dule_id=234795) and requires a permit even for licensed/registered/plated full size vehicles (like jeeps). Note that the OHV permit is not an OHV registration (such as is required for a non-license/plated ATV or the like). I got my OHV permit with the upcoming China Wall run in mind, but it works for any other OHV designated trail and is valid through March 31 of 2018.

I realize some may disagree with this policy - heck I am not sure I agree with it and have never gotten one before - and I would guess chances of an actual citation are pretty low (I've never been approached by an officer or ranger about it previously). But figured I'd share the information, and for $25.25, I figure its as much a donation to the FS as anything else.

I'll expect my ham licence by then (almost ready) is there a ham frequency to tune in to also? I'm still totally new to using ham even if I am learning the answers to the test questions. LOL

I will be tuned in. As for the OHV permit, I am happy to get one if I have time. As with Fino I am as much about the donation if nothing else.

It's not too late to plan a pot-luck picnic for this event if anyone is interested. I'll volunteer to keep and post an updated spreadsheet of what everyone plans to bring as I have in the past.

For the newbies to the group, this is a run you won't want to miss! You'll meet a lot of members and run a trail that can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be (the main obstacles have bypasses).

The picnic has always been the main event and most people volunteer to bring some food to share or other items such as tables/chairs and grills. The spreadsheet is updated daily so everyone can see what is needed and chime in with whatever they want to bring.

Please post up if interested and I'll get a new thread started!
