Default Utah - Black Dragon 4/7/17

Ran Black Dragon last weekend as part of my trip to Green River, UT and the San Raf Swell. Still working out some bugs in the carb (I think) for the old CJ so left it at home and wheeled the truck. Most of the pics are of my friend with the TJ Rubi (he headed on to Vegas this week so it may be a bit before I get his pics and can show off my totally stock boring Taco). We did get a short run in on sat - mostly just wondering around the swell on some easy dirt trails - although one of the wash crossing was steep enough to drag my back bumper and pry my hitch connector off (for the 3rd time - one day I am going to move that thing into the bumper).

    Black Dragon:
We started the at the east end and headed west up through the swell. East end of the trail starts with an unofficial exit off of I-70 and then through the wash underpass.

    Heading into the swell

Some cool pictographs in the canyon

Some wheeling and the couple of rocky, more challenging spots

Went for a great 7.5 mile loop hike up Little Wildhorse Canyon and then back down Bell Canyon on Sat. These are the most popular slot canyons in the swell - they get a bit crowded for that area, but fun none-the-less. My friends with the TJ had never been there so it was an obligatory hike, but there are lots of others very similar without the people.

That is a great place. We drove out there for the Indian paintings on the rock walls. There is a small town up there somewhere as well. It had some neat history. I have one of those "off the beaten paths" books. It had listed this place. I was glad I visited the area. It is pretty barren. You need a big jug of water and a tank of gas.

It's all in the timing. Drove through there on the way to vegas.
Wanted to do Black Dragon but we where one truck, street tires and it was late afternoon..
Still want to run it soon.
