Default Info wanted - snowmobile rentals

Hey folks, I'm inquiring on snowmobile (and perhaps gear) rentals around here (CO / southern WY). A buddy is coming out late Jan and we'd like to get on some snowmobiles. Both of us used to own sleds for midwestern / groomed trail riding but essentially have never ridden in CO (I have two days of trail/powder experience on the Grand Mesa and know that getting stuck is a concern).

In my mind, it'd be nice to have some trails - groomed or not - plus some places to play with some deeper snow. We _might_ entertain a guided trip so long as it's not a 10MPH follow me poke-along.

Thoughts for locations for scenery / enjoyment?

    Thoughts for rental places?

Grand Lake has a large trail system and a lot of rentals to choose from (including some performance machines). The whole town caters to snomobilers (you can ride down the side of main street). http://onthetrailrentals.com/winter_...snowmobile.php

Tiger Run near Breckenridge is a nice area but shorter/guided trips. http://www.goodtimesadventures.com/snowmobiling.html

    BE SAFE OUT THERE.

we've rented in Winter Park before. you get to go up to the divide. it's groomed trails for the most part, but there are a few huge bowls you can play in the powder in. super fun! the sleds are fast, but not crazy.

http://www.grandadventures.com is the website, and we did the 4-hour sport rentals. it was a blast.

I have not been here but go snowboarding in the area and always see lots of snowmobiles. A co-worker goes snowmobiling in the area and says it is better than anywhere in CO.

Rented snowmobiles years ago in Grand Lake for my bachelor party. Groomed trail system and plenty of off groom trails, cornices and deep powder off to get hopelessly stuck in.

    That can sum it up!

Cardiac arrest stuck also comes to mind and I don't care to go there.

I had never been on a snowmobile when I rented one there... Rolled it on it's side in the rental place's parking lot!

Did they provide bibs and other gear to stay warm in?

One of the rental places, one of the links above, did list rentals of clothing. Quite likely - all of them have clothing options - if not listed on their web site a phone call should have info.

Grand Adventures offers Bibs, boots, & helmets with each rental, I believe. maybe it was extra? I can't remember...but the helmets all had GoPro mounts on them. so we took videos...it was fun.
