Terrible. The aftermath is too much, poor guy. My BIL is an emergency room nurse in AZ and sees a few ATV cases every week.

To the guy taking the video - Put down the freaking camera and spot your buddy.
Very much an avoidable injury.
1st of all why is a ATV trying the ecalator!
2nd spot your buddy dumb a#$
3rd yet another example of why I bought a jeep, roll cages are a very good thing.
God would rather you helped him.
IDK, those are tourists from California taking on Hell's Gate in Moab on their awesome Moab adventure- if nothing had gone wrong and the camera guy had tried to spot him he would have been pissed about missing the "epic" video. From the time we see the ATV at the bottom of the obstacle to the roll is only 17 seconds, and the roll is caused by him climbing the wall on his right / going way too fast. The obstacle is clearly beyond his skill / experience. IDK if the camera guy would have time to do anything but yell "slow down" and "oh S**t!", if he even recognized that he was going too fast; he's likely a Cali tourist too. It was doomed from go, but IMO it's all pilot error.
Scary stuff. This is why my wife has a Polaris Ace and not a atv.
I don't blame the camera dude. You really think pointing to the left would have helped? Lol.
Utterly optional obstacle at the end of a great trail.
As an ATV rider myself I just have to say that guy was a moron for even having tried that in the first place. Sure I have empathy for the guy for hurting himself so bad but a little common sense could have avoided that whole incident. ATV's are extremely dangerous to ride, then put an idiot on top and you get another fatality. Although ATV's are inherently more dangerous than 4x4's , people still get hurt and killed driving 4x4's. On a side note, no way in hell would I have even thought about doing that on my ATV!
TJ- I totally agree that ATV' s are dangerous as well as taking our trucks ( what ever the manufacture) to the places we do.
As well as the common sence being a huge issue.
The stupidity of the few that get publicity is where we get trail closures, and the reputations that both comunities have.
Unfortunately education doesn't seem to be working.
So I have to say it's time to let the heard thin it's self.
Protecting the galacticly stupid has been unsuccessful.
