Johnny park is a fun trail, great for stockers and up. there are multiple lines or bypasses to just about everything so you can make it hard or easy. I haven't done Pierson South yet, but the north side was easy in our stock Xterra.

This video shows the slide from the top, you can hike there on the Twin Sisters trail from Lily Lake.

Weather looks great so far, upper 50s and sunny wed-sat in Estes. This will probably be my last run of the year, I already took my trailer off the road for winter building, Jeep is next.

The South end is quite a bit longer, and more fun. Still doable in a stocker, at least as of this June-ish it was. A few rocks easy to navigate, with the most difficult part of it being just a steep-ish hill climb that's a little loose. Even with my worn out crappy tires I never spun. The slide really is something that pics cannot do justice, you just have to experience what it looks like for the side of a mountain to be taken down to bedrock like it's nothing, 1 ft.thick trees piled up like pick up sticks......truly amazing.

Sweet FJ60 on Pierson. I had an 86 and the only thing I didn't like about it was the 2f. This one has a 5.7 swap, OME lift and 33s. Perfect.

Watch for a sign that says Big Elk Meadows on hwy 36, turn there. There are 2 entrances to the trail from that end. Personally I always use the first one. It can be easy to miss, but there is kind of a fun climb from there. That area can be confusing with all the little spurs to camp spots however. Of you're able to download and use the GPX track Paul, it will keep you on the trail. Or I guess since we'really planning on going I could help you out, LOL.

Nothing wrong with the second entrance, easier to find, stay on the road until it forks and take the left side. Unless it's been fixed that road up to the parking area had some good washouts, but easily passable, plenty of parking space even for trailers if needed.

So long as nothing changes between now and then, I'd be happy to lead. I know Johnny's better than any other trail.

Lots of camping all through Johnny Park and a large area at the west end gate. There is also a bit along Pierson as you are heading up from the south.

I'd love to see his daily driver (Longmont muni bus line) on some trail - "eash" Switzerland perhaps?!
