    Default DD Traction boards

I'm not suggesting these as an alternative to Maxtrax, but as an accessory for our Xterra that doesn't do hard trails, mostly streets, easy trails and roads to campsites. I'm thinking of getting two sets of these, 4 total. They say "unbreakable" and 4 of them are about $31.00. Anyone ever use them?

They look like Swiss cheese. I am betting they will break after a few uses.

we'll see, they're on the way. they do say unbreakable... it's just an upgrade over using the floormats for my wife's DD.

I'm betting they will work better than floor mats!

Looks like they might work with the honeycomb pattern to grip into the snow/ice. Over the years I've tried floor mats and other ad hoc things. Usually ended up just being launched away by the tire rotation.

I used to carry a piece of indoor-outdoor carpet (astro turf) rolled up in the trunk for just that purpose. Cost like $6 and lasted forever... also worked great for a picnic blanket and floor protector when tent camping.

Good idea, was it the kind that looks like very short pile carpet or the type with the cheesy plastic grass that might bite into the snow?

The fake grass stuff (looked like the stuff on a miniature golf course).

Then you run into the problem after getting unstuck. Do you stop to retrieve them and risk getting stuck again or just keep the momentum and leave 'em?!
