Off topic, on subject - what are CO laws on selling a handgun?

In CO, as of a year or two ago, ALL (yea, well, maybe not ALL, but essentially ALL - antique items might be exempt) transfers are supposed to go through an FFL (gun store) for a background check.

If two persons wish to transfer a firearm, they can go to a nearby gun store to process the background check. The gun store will charge the check fee and might add on a bit (10 or 20) for their time involved. Once the check comes back good the transfer can complete.

How complete the formal process happens in the real world is the question.

Everyone should know the Four Rules for safe gun handling (three by the NRA, I add one more and change the listing ever so slightly). If any "non gun" person is reading the thread, you should pay attention as well in case you find yourself (party, group gathering) with someone else "showing off" a gun.

1) ALWAYS assume every gun is loaded.

2) ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction / NEVER point it at anything you would not want destroyed.

3) ALWAYS keep your finger off of the trigger until the gun is on target and ready to shoot.

4) ALWAYS know your target and what is behind your target.

So, if you're with a group and you see someone waving a gun around - they are likely breaking rule #2 and probably have their finger on the trigger (#3). Since you're assuming it's loaded... GET AWAY as quick as you can.

A O Bummer's new back ground check will be for the gun owner and all who have reasonable access.
You put in for a BGC and you "will" get a call from AFT..
If you dont pass BGC you will get a visit from ATF agents askin why you are trying to get a gun !!

Is it true that you can't legally pass a background check if you have an MMJ card? I read that if you check the box that says you're not a drug addict and have an MMJ card it's a felony, but I also read that the MMJ registry isn't available to the ATF wthout cause so they can't cross reference it unless you're involved in a "situation".
