Default Rear Sway bar on XJ

Read an article the other day about removing the rear sway bar on my XJ, saying it was not necessary, and increased flex. Was wondering if anyone has done this, and what they think. Mine is a 2000 with 3" lift, and 31 tires, if it makes a difference.
    Thanks Phil

EDIT: sorry guys, my mind is still geared toward flatland racing. I will refrain from posting on technical Jeep questions as I have no experience.

I got rid of mine when installing lift. Rear does nothing more than restrict flex. Leaf springs are stiff enough to maintain rear sway. Front is a little different but I drove mine with both off for over a year

Every lift kit manufacturer and Jeep enthusiast say exactly that.....and they are correct.

After reworking my stock leaf packs, I felt the rear was firm enough to remove the sway bar. The only time I second guessed that decision, was when I had to tow something.

Mine has been off since I started wheeling with it. I unbolt the front one whenever I get to the trail too, then bolt it back up while airing up at the end. Granted there's plenty of rigs on here that put me to shame, but I'd never be able to get as high on this rock as I did if I had front sway bar attached.

Yeah- just remove it altogether. Don't bother with a disconnect for the rear. The front benefits greatly too from disconnecting- but you need it on the road. It's scary without the front connected on the road.

It damn sure was at first, I got used to it. Was tired of crawling under the truck twice a day when we were hitting trails everyday for a while so I left it off. Definitely doesn't feel good in the turns at first though. sure makes the ride a lot smoother though.

Neither of my Cherokees run sway bars, one is daily driving.

I also removed the rear sway bar when installing my 4.5 BDS lift. and can't tell any difference.

Ditch the rear sway bar for sure. I noticed no difference at all when I removed mine back when I had a Cherokee. I went from a 2" budget boost, through a RE 3.5 lift, to 5.5" lift with long arms, all without a rear sway bar with no negative effect.

Disconnects for the front for off-road and you'll be good.

I think the only time you will miss the rear sway-bar will be when you tow with it. Just make sure to go a safe speed.

The rear swaybar on XJs is so thin that it doesn't do a whole lot like mentioned. Id still keep the front swaybar linked up for daily driving since that will make a difference.

I pulled my bars of when I started tweekin on it and I do get lean on turns (But I have the soft leafs in the rear)
I will be definitely trade my flex for a little body roll...

LOL, you can TOTALLY tell the sway bar is hooked up. Obviously the rear isn't though. Pretty sure I woulda been screwed on that trail if I was connected that day.
