Default Covers I built years ago...

I fab'd up some cheapy protection for the D44s I had in my old Scrambler. Here's the write-ups I did for them:

Rear: What I did was take a spare cover, hack off the lower half of the outer ring, fixture-weld that ring to the uncut cover, then hack out the center section of the spare cover, and weld that over the uncut cover. It'll provide some cover peel-back protection as well as some better-than-stock protection to the gears. Some things are more fun built and not bought if you've got the means.

Front: I put together some protection for my front diff cover. It's not much, but it was cheap and better than nothing. I used a diff cover off an old D44 which was stamped/shaped a bit larger than my late-model Dodge cover that I'm running on my axle. So after removing the sides which wouldn't fit over the Dodge cover, the ring around the outside and the center portion were all that were left - looks like the run-of-the-mill guards on the market. Instead of welding this together, I bolted it on so if it doesn't hold up well, I can pitch it and try something else. I took a pic with the camera phone, so the quality sucks. But until I get the desktop re-setup in the basement, it'll have to do.
