    Default trail recommendation needed

So I have a friend who wants to go wheelin', cool, but he has a 4 door Raptor. Any suggestions where I could take him and the big Raptor that thing is the size of bus!

Short and easy; Loch Lomond or Chinns. A little bit longer; Argentine Pass/McClellan

I've wheeled with an H1 up Red Cone. And Peak 10. And Bill Moore Lake (don't do Red Elephant Hill or Mill Creek- too narrow). And Georgia Pass.

    Dont do T-33a.

Could probably do MSV/Coney. Yankee Hill and that whole area should be fine.

MSV would probably be fine. Coney can get a little tight and twisty in spots, but in most places it's tight OR twisty, rarely both.

How experienced is he? If he doesn't know how to control throttle in that beast, he might want to stay away from really technical stuff, even if it isn't too rough.

^^this. Doesn't matter what you drive if you don't know what your doin. I hate seeing someone with a more than capable rig get into a situation that's over their head/beyond their capabilities. So it's hard to make suggestions based on a person's rig without knowing their experiance level.

I've got friends I wheel with regularly from Longmont who wheel their Raptor on 37s. They've run a ton of trails, including Holy Cross. The only ones they don't are Black Bear, and Radical Hill, due to the narrowness and sheer drops. They wheeled T33A, but struggled due to width near the end, where the wreckage lies.

There are some limitations due to the width, but I agree with most. The true limitation lies with the driver's skill (or lack thereof).

How much wider is a raptor than a jk or a newish 4 runner? I have wheeled full size trucks my whole life and never found a trail that was to narrow or to tight. A 4 door jk is almost the same size as a k5 and close to the same weight.

    Here's what I found.

    SVT: 86.3"
    New Rubicon: 73.7"
    K5 Blazer: 79"
    New 4Runner: 75.8"
    H1 Hummer: 86.5"

I've personally witnessed the H1 rubbing trees on both sides of the trail at the same time. T-33a is tight in my Explorer. An H1/Raptor would really struggle. Mill Creek was tight (not as bad) in my Explorer. The top of Iron Clads was tight in my Explorer.

so my short list is Loch Lomond or Gross Reservoir. Now wives are going and want to go to a resevoir or some place scenic. MSV looks fun but maybe to much for the half of our group with stock tacoma's. Leaning towards Loch. Looks scenic and sounds interesting towards the top.

Loch is a bumpy, boring drive.

    The lake is fun though.

Chinns lake is right near lomond. Equally scenic and more interesting 4wd.

Ah. Then you need to run Webster pass.

Bumpy and boring is not good. Hmmmm. Got to figure out the just right balance of fun and scenic. Keep the suggestions coming everyone, very helpful.

Peak 10 in Breckenridge is fun and incredibly scenic. Lots of switchbacks like Black Bear but without the "we're all going to die if I go a little wide".

Plus, I've been up there with an H1:

North Sand Hills in Walden are made for that truck.

    Just because you said "Raptor"...
