Default Alpine Tunnel Trail / Hancock Townsite

This is actually a report on a hiking trail off a 4x4 trail... we just spent a couple of days at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, and went on a hike we've been thinking of for a while, the Alpine Tunnel Trail. It's the other side of the closed tunnel that you can reach via the Alpine Tunnel 4x4 road on the Cumberland side of Hancock Pass. The hiking trail begins at the old townsite of Hancock at a small parking area (about 7 cars) and follows the railroad grade for about 3.5 miles to the caved in tunnel. It's pretty easy as hikes go, and the scenery was absolutely incredible. If you're doing the Tincup / Cumberland / Hancock loop it's a fantastic addition, we really enjoyed it.

The "finger following on the map" is a great addition to the vid!

Cool video Paul! I have only driven to the west portal. No idea there was a hike to the east portal.

I can't take credit, I saw it done and stole it. It's even better in focus, I'd guess...
