Oh man! An MSV / Coney run with Chris and Rob! Wish I could get the time off!
Always a fun trail run.
That initial climb up Coney from the MSV split is getting more and more washed out. I was up there a couple weeks ago. The lake itself was also the lowest I've seen it. The lake you don't drive across has a bunch of exposed trees from the water level being so low.
Sounds like fun. Wish I could get off Thursday, taking Friday off and camping at peaceful valley/camp dick fri-sun and will be hitting up ironclads if anyone who cant make Thursday wants to hit up vrain/coney on friday or sat let me know I will be there.
I want to make this because it is literally one of my last days of freedom but not sure how it will be with only me and my two toddlers. The wife makes the numbers even but she has to work.
Come along Travis, your kids are welcome as always and IIRC Rob has to get home by 4 - 4:30 so it won't be a long day.

Stop for lunch at the lake. Kids love playing in water, throwing rocks in the water.
Working on plans to run these trails saturday for those of is that work weekdays.
No guarantee I can even go...but always wondered how difficult this trail is. Well specifically the portion up from MSV over to Coney which I understand is the hardest part. I'd like to try it one day, but it always seems just on the verge of a little more than I might feel comfortable in my old jeep (open front and old weak LS on rear that doesn't do much with only 31 ATs that like to spin on steep whoop-de-doo slopes given my short wheelbase). Clearance isn't generally an issue, but traction can be.
For example, just ran Bill Moore and Mill Creek. No prob on mill creek which was probably more technically difficult, but didn't feel I made it up the steeper talus sections on Bill Moore with ease or lots of confidence. The carb also doesn't love the high elevation and very off-camber sections. Things with more traction like rocks are good as is lower elevation. Just wondering...

I think having clearance will make it easier than you expect. Hopefully Rob will chime in as he did it in his FJ40 on 31's and open diffs.

Sorry guys, I was all the way loaded up and ready to go, when I got a call from my friend. He is in an AA program and said that he needs somebody to be with him today. He is a very dear friend, and I need to be there to support him with this. I am so sorry, and know that I am heartbroken not being able to go wheeling today.
i think wheeling would be a great distraction, but he currently has a medical condition that makes it impossible.

You made the right choice Travis, good to see!
There will be plenty of runs to come even though your Summer is pretty much done.
