    Default Twin Cone Report

I'm gonna keep it fairly short and to the point.

We had a great time 4wheeling with Dan in his Land Cruiser, and my buddy Rick who rode with me and drove my jeep on some obstacles!

I have a whole lot of respect to that landcruiser, it showed my jeep who the boss is once or twice. Fairly embarrassing for me but it was so much fun watching it go! W

Weather was mostly perfect with an exception of light shower at the very peak (12,300 ft)

We ran into a couple of guys in their JKs who were from our area as well, and said they might check out FR4x4!

On the way back down, I got a check engine light. I popped the hood at one of the gates to check the engine, and thankfully it was still there so we continued down to the campground area. The trail is a LOT more difficult than most people make it out to be, but once again, possibly due to getting washed out in the heavy rain we have been getting!

I can't wait to wheel again!

    Pics to come

Thanks for posting the report Matt, It was great meeting you and Rick and seeing that crazy jeep in action. You should post up the pics of Rick driving over those huge boulders, that was nuts. I continue to be surprised at what I can do with my land cruiser, It's rolling proof that the first mod you should make are sliders.

I guess I'll add in that the trail was great. It would be mostly passable for a stock vehicle, all the really ugly stuff had bypasses. But there were a couple obstacles up there that took both lockers and a couple attempts for me to get over. Some lines were even challenging for Matt's crazy ZJ on 40's.

So there is something for everyone up there, plus a great view from the top of a 12,300ft peak. I would highly recommend it.

    THX!!!

I heard it was "stocker friendly" with bypasses - but this does sound more interesting with the difficult sections!

I will post some more picture once I get off work, don't want to get in trouble for using the phone haha will be easier on computer.

It was absolutely ridiculous that my jeep couldn't get over a little pebble... but crawler a 4 foot boulder no problem. I guess we can blame the driver here.... most sections had good bypasses, but the loose boulder hill was a bit intense. That rooster tail of rocks.. scary.. lol

You'd have a great time on this trail in your jeep Jim.

Haha quit beating yourself up over that rock, I was able to squeeze in the middle and miss the big rocks, you were just too wide to take the same line so your back tire had to scale a 3' tall rock face while your front tire climbed a nearly vertical boulder as well. You just have the perfectly wrong wheelbase for that one.

Matt, I am the one that was in the silver JKR that you met. You have a very impressive ZJ, and am glad I ran into you on that trail. That was my first run on Twin Cone and I am looking forward to running it again, was a very fun trail. I usually do runs with a couple of my friends only, but was impressed with how you carried yourself enough to check out this site. I will familiarize myself with the folks here and might decide to join you on future runs.

Hey Steve I was the guy in the White FZJ-80, sorry if I came off as anti-social, I didn't bring a jacket (derp) and I was freezing my ass off at that summit. Welcome aboard, I think you'll like it here.

P.S. Make sure you head over to the introductions section and make a post, I think your account may get deleted if you don't.

    "mostly", no. But, sometimes, yes...

For a true person behind an account, I'll send a "nudge" e-mail if an intro doesn't get posted. The nudge e-mail works.

There are some sign-ups that qualify but end up posting a for-sale ad or otherwise don't wish to be a member in good standing - then, the account would be inactivated or deleted/banned, all depending upon the circumstances. Curiously, some sign up and then NEVER respond to the sign-up confirmation e-mail or my e-mails to them offering help - my thought in those cases is that the e-mails are hitting their spam/junk folder and they're not checking it. Bummer.

For folks who wish to be an active member as the group would wish, everyone posts an intro either right away or after a kind "nudge" e-mail from the admin. We're pretty easy going.

Any damage to your LC? I've been thinking about running this trail--I tried maybe a month or so ago and it was still snowed in a ways past the second gate.

I have a little less paint on my sliders, but other than that I made it through unscathed. I was pretty hard on the old gal too.
