Wondered if anyone has experienced sexton mountain road out of Georgetown to Idaho springs?

Havent driven that in years. What I remember of that is miles and miles of my teeth rattling out of my head. Its mostly softball sized rocks the whole way. In my scout it is definitely not a pleasant ride. Some vehicles handle it much better though. There are some cool views and its pretty easy drive though.

I participate in the Adopt-a-Road program on Saxon Rd (F.S. 712).

The switchbacks above Georgetown are actually under Clear Creek County's jurisdiction. The first couple times you take that route, the switchbacks are fun and scenic. After that, they are bumpy and monotonous. During wet years, you are more likely to see boulders on the road. There is enough soil erosion around these big rocks to let nature take it's course, and they roll downhill until they stop...on the road. A few years ago, there was a (another) rock slide just below the scenic overlook. A lot of people have driven over that slide, and been lucky. If they were not lucky, there would be news stories about their demise. I have not driven across the most recent slide.

The Idaho Springs side has more varied terrain, and is easily passable with 4-wheel drive. I drive it at least twice a year, and see something new every trip.
