Since I do my own work and trust no one to do things correctly anymore; my garage is my fav. However, years back I scored a great deal on some lockers, gears, axles, etc. for my CJ7 from Jeep Fest and decided to be lazy and take advantage of 4WP 1/2 off labor and subsequent warranty coverage. 90% of it went well but they failed to tighten my hub locks and thus they wore flat out and I had to replace them a year later ~ $100. That taught me yet another lesson about farming out my work.

Later, 4WP ran a special; buy 4 tires get the 5th free without any omission of brands (I looked carefully), so I called and ordered up some KM2s to be installed the next day. When they arrived and I went in for installation, they informed me BFGs not included. After a bit of back and forth, Mike, the Federal manager, made good on the deal and I walked away a bit irritated but happy.

Overall, I'd go back there if I needed too.

I usually buy parts from Tim at Northridge in Longmont for most things that I do myself. If I need fab work or anything invasive, I've been going to Hillside 4x4 in Frederick/Erie. Once Aaron (Brucker) is back on his feet and his schedule clears up, I'll probably check him out for fabrication.

I've never had any work done at Edge Offroad, but Chris is one of the best people I've met. I've met him on a few occasions, and he's one of the nicest and professional folks around. I recently dropped my friend's Raptor off to Edge for a new bumper and some other work. Chris installed their lift and his gone above and beyond for them. I've got a few other offroad friends that go to Edge for all of their offroad needs.

If you do your own work, oriellys has never failed me or my zj. If not go to all american four wheel drive and auto repair off Santa fe and 470 or advanced 4X4 in castle rock by the outlets. They rebuilt my tranny for me and did a great job. Strictly work with Steve Dudden the owner of both. My dad worked there for 20+ years until he moved to mississippi.

Do your homework, plan, get there early, be consistent.

For me, it has been a hobby. If your time is more valuable than that, purchase on-line. (And leave all the good stuff for me.)

http://www.johns4x4.com in Boulder seems like a great place. The new owner, Ross, seems like a great guy. Young guy with a family, into all sorts of 4x4s and cars. I have talked with him about it for a while and it is apparent that he REALLY cares about getting the job done right, customer service, and building a reputation as a great shop.

I've been having maintenance (and a little welding on a broken track bar bracket) done at Antero Automotive in Greenwood Village. They aren't an "off-road" shop, but one of the guys at the counter is a 4x4 guy, and the owner is too. The best thing is that they are super girl friendly. Except one guy that I make sure I avoid, I never get a "we'll fix that for you little lady" vibe from them and they are always willing to discuss in detail what was wrong, what they did and what I can do to solve things without them in the future.
