    Default Need a torque wrench...

Does anyone have a torque wrench that will go to 304 ft-lbs? I need to service the oil pump cover on two Landcruisers which requires the R&I of the harmonic balancer. That torque spec is 304 ft-lbs. The tool I have only goes to 250 and I don't want to spend big $ on a new one. Anybody have one that will handle the job that I could borrow for a weekend? I'd gladly leave a deposit or rent it from you.

    TIA
    Dave

Check with rental shops or big box auto parts stores for rentals

304 FTLB?! Dayum. I have to ask, are you sure it isn't 304Nm which would be 224ftlbs, which seems more realistic? I've built a ton of engines and don't recall a torque value so high.

    Or certain it's not inch-lbs

    304 / 12 = 25-1/3

If you have to get more foot pounds, use a breaker bar and some weights. You essentially need a 2' bar and 152lbs of weight on the end of it. Here is a thread about it:

The number is correct, from the FSM:
    INSTALL CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
    (a) Align the pulley set key with the key groove of the pulley,
    and slide on the pulley.
    (b) Using SST, install and torque the pulley bolt.
    SST 09213−58012, 09330−00021
    Torque: 412 N·m (4,200 kgf·cm, 304 ft·lbf)

Ah, crankshaft pulley - now I can see it.

    Thanks for the clarification!

I'm going to check with tool rental places this week. Pretty sure the box part stores only have up to 250 ft-lb.

May have to look In to a 3/4 inch drive to get up in the 300 range range. Or red lock tight it and go with the 250 ft lbs then breaker bar it another 1/8 to 1/4 turn.
