Here is the planning thread. As I stated I would like to find a trail leader for Barbour forks and a small crew to install the new sign on devils canyon.

I don't mind helping out with the sign, just digging a hole and burying it or putting it in a concrete footer.
Removing the old stump first then cleaning out the hole and installing the new sign.
The weekend of June 21 - I'm open!
Leader for Barbour Forks - count me in (what do I need to do?)
Can-Do
I'd love to tag along and help out!
I'll bring my shovels and see if I can find my picks !!

I am waiting to find out what my work schedule will look like this summer, but will be trying hard to be in on this one. I will stay in touch.
I don't have a wench on my Bronco, but I do have 2 come-a-longs that could be used to pull the old sign post. One of which belonged to my grandfather and it pulled an old 50 Plymouth onto a trailer without so much of a groan, creak, or squeal.
Keeping this updated, Jeff (patrolman) rebuilt our sign including a spare! Thank you Jeff!
i am picking up the paint and dropping off the new adopt a trail paperwork this Saturday. Should have the signs ready by Sunday evening.
Well I gona bail out. Found out that sat in the Sons 1st 5K race.
Im gona be there for him.

I am a maybe now. Got to see if I can get some repairs done. lol
You'll get them done. I have faith in you.
8 is not gonna cut it gang! I would love to see some more participation considering our membership base.
Sorry that I can't make it. I have to watch my daughter, who is not old enough to go yet. Thanks for picking up the signs Brad! I should be able to make the Fall run again this year.
For those who have never participated on a clean-up-run, here's the deal:
1) It's an enjoyable day
2) It's not like "work"
3) It's "mostly" a normal trail run
We show up at the FS office in Idaho Springs in the morning. There's a form to sign (as I recall, we are free employees of the FS for the day - but I could be wrong). We split into groups - so you can choose the group / trail you'd like to travel. Each group heads out to the respective trailheads, airing down & preparing as typical. Splitting into sub-groups is likely. Folks head out and mostly stop at the commonly visited picnic spots to pick up trash. If we see trash on the trail (between picnic spots - someone stops and grabs it - though there often is not much between picnic spots). At the picnic spots, it's mainly picking up spent shells (metal & plastic), perhaps some broken glass, perhaps some aluminum cans. It's an easy pace such that the trash pickup is but a nice reason to be out in nature on a nice day with a good group of folks. At the end of the cleanup, some folks head over to "the other trail" and run it as it's close.
In a nutshell - that's the deal - an enjoyable day out improving our forest.
Trail cleanups are fun, you get to hang out and talk a lot more than you would on regular runs and you can get MVUMs at the meeting place. Kids always seem to have a great time on these runs. For the actual cleanup I bring gloves, trash bags, a Homer / 5 gallon bucket from the Home Depot to pick up into, and a small metal trash can with a lid in my Jeep to offload it to. Like Jim said, we mostly pick up shell casings and stuff that was used for targets- last year old school home stereos and CDs seemed to be the targets of choice. It's easy and you get your "Volunteer" badge too.
Here's a video of Devil's Canyon. It's the easier of the two, it was pretty dry and I did it in 2wd that trip.
Yep - good vid. It can be amazing the amount of shells people leave behind.
