    Default Tps

Are The TPS interchangeable from newer years? I have an 87 Laredo XJ with the AW4. Can I use one from a newer XJ or should I just buy new one? any help would be appreciated. Also is the NSS interchangeable as well

TPS sensor have to be registered to the PCM.
the sensors might interchange but they need to be programmed.

I hate TPS! I bypassed mine by grounding the circuit and then removed them. No idiot light telling me I have a low tire when I air down or anytime else.

Drill three more holes in the spare and install the sensors in it.
No more light when aired down !!!

Given that the OP has an '87, could he be talking about a "throttle position sensor" TPS rather than a "tire pressure monitoring system" TPMS?

Oops, I bet you're right. Looking back I see we hijacked this one in a bad way!

Now it makes sense why he couldn't wheel until it's fixed. Sorry Michael!

Yup, Throttle Position Sensor, and it has to be set up/adjusted. The written procedure depends on the transmission being auto or manual, and you will need a DVOM.
