How do I find out if a trail is open or not?
I want to do a shake down run for my new lift and was thinking of Bull park but don't know if it's open or not
looking to go this Saturday
thanks

We looked into running Saran Wrap for last week. Some of the guys from the springs checked out Gold Camp and found that the entrance close to the springs is closed. You would have to enter from the far side and from my understanding it is accessed from Canon City. That would make it a long drive, and I never got an answer to if that trail system is open or not.
The Forest Service has "road status" pages. Here's a link to the Arapahoe & Roosevelt page (Click on "Boulder" for the Boulder list, etc):

I think "General" would be the most appropriate forum - it's the catch-all for 4x4 items.

I like the books by Charles A. Wells and Matt Peterson titled: Guide to Colorado Backroads and 4-Wheel-Drive Trails to be good in that they list a contact number to get current conditions on the trails. For Bull Park they list "Pike N.F., Pikes Peak R.D. Call (719) 636-1602."
As-of about a week and a half ago I know that Gold Camp Road is closed coming up from Colorado Springs as sunk noted above.
I also like Bushducks.com for pass status. Usually much more helpful in the Spring when I'm trying to decide if a trail is open yet or not.

The Motor Vehicle Use Maps are the official authority on what's open and closed- except for maybe a padlock around a gate. Find them on the Forest Service webpage. Each ranger district keeps their own.
eagle rock saran wrap and bull park and every thing in that area should be open just fine i have heard nothing of them closing but yes you have to enter from the northern side of gold camp
China wall would be a good trail to do a run on and i know its open at this time of year.
How about Central City area? Yankee Hill, Pickle Gulch, or whatever's around there.
Sounds good I haven't ran pickle gulch yet...
I believe it's open and have no idea of the snow level, maybe someone can chime in on that.
Jenny creek looks fun also
Ran part of Pickle yesterday. Without chains and a winch, you won't get far. And even then, you're just going to get really stuck.
And tried Mammoth from the Moffat road and didn't get very far either- almost slid off the side of the trail while pulling the lead vehicle out.
oof - that second pic doesn't look too inviting.
Nothing a winch and a snatch block around a tree couldn't fix.
So my friend is about to bail on me for this Saturday anyone interested? Since it's the first time on this lift I don't want to go alone
depending on where you are planning to go, I would be interested.
I was figuring Yankee hill since it sounds like the others are snowed in I think at least half of it wi be open
I'm not set really just want to get out
