Snowbash'n in the Pacific Northwet!
That's a lot of snow!
Looks sweet. The snow last weekend was nothing like that, it was crusted over with a layer of sugar snow underneath. We need a sweet snow storm like we get during the spring. We could then go up and get some great conditions like that.
The only place I can think of that would mimic those conditions right now would maybe be Rabbit Ears. Anyone else know where we could go for those kind of conditions right now?
A couple years ago, the Denver area got a good amount of snow. The next day was bright and sun shiny (I love Colorado!). I had my popup camper at an outside storage area near my house and I figured I should go remove the snow from the roof. OK, the real reason was that I figured I should go drive through the snow.
This was back when I had 30" BFG tires on. The snow was really light and fluffy and I was cutting through it with no problems. I was the first one into the storage area so I was making first tracks everywhere. The picture above is just where I stopped to take a picture- I wasn't stuck and you can gauge the snow depth with the rear tire. The snow was behaving almost like water and my Explorer was a boat- it was putting out a "wake" behind very similar. At one point I was flying down one of the rows in the storage area and the snow was coming over the hood. Ever see a nuclear submarine running on the surface? It sorta looked like that.
Light and fluffy snow is one thing- thick and heavy wet snow is a totally different animal.
Pretty sweet!
