Expedition Overland has shut down the early episodes, but I stumbled on this site that has episode 1 on it. Season 2 hasn't been as good, IMO, so it was nice to find this.

Yeah, their Alaskan trip has sucked so far. I've seen hints that their next episode will feature some good offroading.
I would argue it is more about the journey than wheeling. Hence overlanding.

I agree with you, Brad.
The Expedition Overland folks do it splendidly, if I may say. I actually prefer the new Alaskan episodes to that of the older ones. I like how they're focusing on the people and cool places they visit. I'm sure as the trip ramps up, so will the wheelin, but I really enjoy the more human aspect this season.
While I agree it's about the journey and not the wheeling- the way they've told the story of their journey so far has been pretty lame. If you read their YouTube comments, I'm not alone in that opinion. Personally, I like some of their older trips more so far compared to what I've seen of this trip. The last episode, about the glacier watching, IMO has been the best of the trip and it had about 3 seconds of the trucks in the episode. I personally like to see stories of people overcoming hardships they encounter along the way- be it a breakdown, difficult trail section or whatever. So far the worst thing they've encountered is mosquitoes. And I know since this is real life it can't be all chaotic- this isn't an episode of ER where something bad happens all the time. It's all about how the story is communicated. I remember watching an episode of Nitro Circus where they were talking about this crazy stunt they filmed, but when watching it in the editing bay afterwards, the craziness of the stunt wasn't communicated on TV and they never aired the stunt. So far their trip is nothing special.
The episode where they heard bears- they just wanted to play with their toys. These guys are some of the biggest gear nerds out there. At the end of the scene, they said something like "ultimately, the bear is going to do what it wants....." But yet they were out there with their toys. And the shakedown trip where they set up camp and had all the lights running Clay was all excited to see all the gear being used. Total gear nerds.
I'll give you that Tom. If you want hardship and breakdown, read scout mans posts about his Moab trips!
love ya Steve! Always have..
I have found myself searching for expedition documentaries as well as researching other peoples blogs about their overland trips. Want a good read?

I love that thread, Brad! It's what got me into Overlanding in the first place!
I picked up the bible recently: http://www.desertwinds.co.uk/expedition_guide_06.html
Nice Patrick! I will have to pick up a copy.
the new Petersons is all about Overlanding, and they have a fun description- if you own a Land Cruiser or Land Rover, it's Overlanding. If you own a Dodge, Chevy or Ford, it's truck camping. I guess they left Jeeps out because we don't have enough cargo capacity for either. I think it's all just semantics, as long as you're having fun call it whatever you want. I've been bored by the current season- I find their humor to be sophomoric at best, and some of them complain too much for my taste. I wouldn't mind a more people-focused series if the people were more appealing, but for me the stars of that show are the Toyotas and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.
I call it Adventure Wheeling, and that's the main purpose of my JK. You want to see some craziness go over to ADVRider.com and check out the guys going RTW on dual sports. I started getting into that this last spring but couldn't get comfortable on the dirt with only 2 wheels and went to a bagger/cruiser.
Check YouTube for:

i liked LWR better.
