That yoyo has no clue where his vehicle is. If he goes out by himself he's gonna end up dead.

    Ditto that.

I agree on the long day, but that is par for the course for Moab newbs sometimes (me included the first time I went). First trail run I ever did there was Fins n Things in my Samurai and we started about 6pm and it was dark by the time we hit the main set of fins on the second half so you couldn't see stuff and everything looked like a big ledge even if it was only 6" tall. I was quaking in my booties going down some of the steeper bits but gained a lot of confidence as the trail went on.

The more I go on trail rides and the more I read trail reports and see videos, the happier I am with the decision I've made to give people the benefit of the doubt. Its easy to assume that they are just idiots and inexperienced, but I see stuff on many of trail runs I go on that another group of people would say "look at this idiot" if they saw it on video (and I am sometimes the one doing it). I've been on the receiving end with people making assumptions on another 4wheeling forum and it really sucks (if you really want to know about it PM me and I'll send you a link).

Still, 12 minutes to go the first 100 yards of Hells Revenge is a bit much. Hopefully the guy gained some confidence fast, since that is the cakewalk portion of the trail.

I have a sudden hankering to go to Moab again all of a sudden.

I actually meant the audio in the first few minutes, someone abruptly quits over the CB after less than 100' of trail. The rest of the audio is kinda funny too, and yeah, that guy can't drive... but damn that is a nice FSJeep. I'm guessing from the condition of the paint, rims, tires and softtop that he just bought it /built it and it may be his first trip with it. Moab can be scary!

Spotter just needed to make the guy get out of his truck and physically look at where it was sitting on the trail, so he had a point of reference when sitting inside the cab. Couple times of doing that, and the guy would have been a whole lot more comfortable in positioning his vehicle and knowing where is sat on the trail. Spotting needs to include having the driver get out of their vehicle so you can show them where their vehicle is, and what you are guiding them over and around. Then they have an idea how to pick the line the next time and why to chose that route.

LOL, I had the volume turned down when I started the video. The audio is pretty funny.

....OK, we quit... ...back 'em down guys.

Kid: Why does it say "Hummer recovery vehicle?"
Mom: Because that's what it was used for.
Dad: Um, no. He's making fun of Hummers.

My friend back in Iowa, Ryan, shot that video; he's the one spotting. I was supposed to be on that trip but couldn't make it. I believe that was 'Mud Puppy's' first run in Moab. That truck actually came from Denver, and the owner, Matt, did a lot of work to it, even installing a Corvette engine. Here are portions of the build thread from my old club site: http://jocci.co/smf/index.php?topic=81.0

For what reason he had trouble staying on the trail, I can't say, but its been discussed ad nauseum
