    Default Pickle Party?

We have a lot of new people and it would be cool to meet everyone. I was looking at trails and saw that pickle gulch has a huge group picnic area just before the trail head http://www.recreation.gov/campsiteFi...tefilter=GROUP PICNIC AREA&startIdx=0&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70034 that we can buy a cheap permit for and have up to 150 people, more for 1.50 a head. Its a big area and Pickle Gulch is right there. Maybe a sunday in the next few weeks?

I've got some things lined up for August, but if I'm available, I'll bring a jar of pickles! (That's a fun trail). Great idea, Paul.

I thought about a "prison-style" pickle party, but that seemed more like a Christmas thing. Maybe later in the year...

    I believe that works.

The Broncos host the Raiders for the Sunday night game that day. I'll need to be home by 6 or so for that.

sure, and some people have church in the am or pm- I'm thinking a 1pm BYO lunch meetup followed by a run up Pickle gulch and out Apex, probably wrap the whole deal up by 4pm easily. I'll call them about a permit

it's available, here's the details and prices:

    Site Details

    • Site Type: GROUP PICNIC AREA
    • Site Reserve Type: Site-Specific
    • Checkin Time: 7:00 am
    • Checkout Time: 10:00 pm
    • Type of Use: Day
    • Min Num of People: 1
    • Max Num of People: 150
    • Pets Allowed: Domestic
    • Max Num of Vehicles: 35
    • Driveway Surface: Gravel
    • Capacity/Size Rating: Double
    • Campfire Allowed: Y
    • Grills/Fire Ring: Y
    • Picnic Table: Y

    Know Before You Go
    Site

THIS SITE IS A DAY USE ONLY SITE
Fees for site 001A (Group Picnic) are calculated depending upon the number of people:
    1-50 people = $80.00
    51-100 people = $125.00
    101-150 people = $170.00

max number of vehicles is 35 so that would probably be the limit on the run RSVP. I'd guess we'd be between 51 and 100 people? We can do a few $$ a vehicle to cover the permit, if there is a surplus is put it back into the site.

that's awesome! re: the permit, I'm thinking the $125.00 permit for up to 100 people would do since the limit is 35 vehicles. what if everyone who RSVP'd yes donated $5.00 the way it's done now for the monthly stuff, and if we get 35 and there is a surplus it can go back into the site. Jim, is that doable?

That would probably work Paul but you might go with an average of 2 people per truck since a lot of people would be solo and would drop the cost considerably. I think you're very optimistic with 100, maybe check the Anniversary Run threads to get an idea of how many showed up for those to get a better idea.

Sept. is looking better for me than August.

Since your original intention was to get some of our new members out for a M&G - I hope some of them will chime in....
