so, what your saying is... if I had read the directions that came with the module I could have avoided this problem!

What Mike said.
It lives again! Swapped in a new ICM this morning (with the grease this time, and drilled about 10 small holes under it for additional air flow.) Unfortunately I had to go to work so I couldn't play with it too long, but I drove it for about 20 minutes around the neighborhood and over a few dirt mounds in the yard. Tomorrow its time to change the fluids and go through and tighten everything and check for anything suspicious. Then I will drive it as much as I can Friday and Saturday, and if all goes well maybe hit the Bill Moore run Sunday!
Glad it all seems worked out!
Good to hear Steve!

Sweet!
forgot to post this picture. This is the inside of the ICM that failed on me. If you look close at the wire in the top left corner of the unit, it broke. The hole unit is filled with a gel of some sort, but the real thin wires stick out above it. It broke or burned up right above the gel line. Also, a picture of the completed engine bay. There is a hell of a lot of stuff crammed in there. Looks a little cleaner in person.
I imagine you have a lot of hours hands-on in that bay...
Here's to hoping it fixes your issue!
Did you stand on your roof to take that shot of the engine bay?
We we may have caused that not knowing exactly how that was supposed to be wired with the early setup.
sort off, I sat on the roof, stood on the cage bar that goes over the bottom of the windshield. I do have a lot of time in that engine bay. The problem is when I stop spending time in there for a while, then have to come back to it again in the future and forget what everything does! Time to go get some drive time in with it today!
Steve, any chance of turning the air cleaner toward the back, maybe the opposite corner? If you end up doing any water crossings I can see that thing filling with water. My Scout tends to blow water all over the distributor and die out if it gets in a couple feet of water. That intake it close to the distributor, so I can see it taking in some water too.
Also, when is the welder going on?
just pulled it off today unfortunately. I put it on before the TBI project started, and the alternator part was working great but the welding part was not. After the TBI I couldn't even get the alternator to work anymore. Was only getting 1.03 volts from the alternator. After messing with it all day I finally just yanked it and put the old one on. Of course, after putting the old one on and starting it I suddenly remembered that I was having problems with that one too. I have another fresh from the junkyard sitting in the garage, and I think I intended to put that on, but then got the welder instead. Been so long I forgot! I think tomorrow I will try the new alternator and see if it works better. Current one functions, but just barely. I think I will be getting rid of the mobi-arc welder and getting a ready welder instead. Just too much to go wrong with the mobi-arc and leave me stranded.
Yeah, I think that I told you that I love my ready welder. You won't be disappointed. 100% portable as long as you have 2 batteries!
Here is one on CL in Durango for $400. Unsure what they go for new now.

You have too much bling with that intake.. WOWZA!!!
Done! Loaded up on the trailer ready to go tomorrow. Spent the last two days though trying to get a damn alternator to work. Ended up with 6 of them through there. Aaron helped me out tonight and brought me a brand new one, of a different style, when he got off work at car quest tonight. Finally got it working, and its running strong! Tomorrow is the shake down run. Josh is tagging along with me to help pull me out or whatever if I have problems. Wanted to join the group run, but didn't want to hold everyone up since there is a potential for unseen issues to arise. This seemed like a good compromise!
Good luck bud! I bet it'll do great!
I will take you up on that bet!
