Just do it!! That is how I gained my experience! And experienced guys should help you become experienced, stock rig or trail killer

I agree with Paul. I am in my second year wheeling (although I was a passenger for a long time and know a bit about picking lines) and I would recommend going. Having hardcore guys like the ones in crawlers can teach you a lot, because they started right where you are and obviously learned. Plus these trails are good ones for beginners because they have hard stuff that can be bypassed so you can skip the obstacles and still see someone else do it, then there are some medium difficulty parts that are mandatory where you can see how capable you and your rig are. Join us and come learn and we will have a great time.

We spotted a stock TJ through T-33A Plane Crash with little drama. The ratings for Moody/Kelly are similar.

EDIT: I've not been on the trail, but if I recall from the write-up, there are bypasses for Heart Attach Hill and The Chutes... (yes??)

Oh yeah that is a perfect summary of what we do when we go out, especially with new people. and we are actually doing moody hill and crystal mtn. The guy trying to get this run going backed out. Moody and crystal both have bypasses for anything tough. Moody has a technical obstacle within the first mile and it is suitable for stock vehicles with a spotter. It will be fun!

    Wait a sec...

What's this run thread about? Kelly or Moody?

Jay had asked me to delete the thread as it was looking to be a no-go. I replied it would simply die on the vine - though seeing activity it seemed folks, aside from Jay, were interested in getting something going for Kelly on 6/30.

Just so long as folks are on the right track. If this thread is for Kelly 6/30, I'll leave things alone. If I should rename the thread - let me know (I still don't think it needed to delete it in whole).

Hey all. Yes I started this run (Kelly Flats) as another option this Sunday. Due to lack of interest and conflict with moody hill crystal mtn run. Kelly flats is cancelled we can run another time.
Moody hill crystal mtn a super fun trails. I'm a maybe for the run due I might have to work. Sorry for the confusion.

Not sure if people are planning on doing Kelly Flats still, but either trail run is a great trail for "newbs" and begginers to go on. I'm taking my mostly stock (lower gears and a welded rear end and some armor) 1st Gen Toyota 4runner on the Moody/Crystal run, so that will give you an indication of what to expect. I'll be putting it through its paces though, and fully plan on trying the harder obstacles, but most of them are optional and the few slightly harder spots aren't too bad and at worst will require a small tug with a strap or maybe a winch, but mostly likely you'll get up it with a try or two. Kelly Flats is a pretty easy trail with Heart Attack at the beggining and the Chutes at the end. Heart Attack isn't actually that hard, its just high exposure and feel sketchy because of that. The Chutes isn't hard, but has a high risk of body damage, but its optional so you can choose to do it or not.

The Moody trail is the perfect trail for a group that has a diverse set of skill and build levels, since it offers challenges for all levels. That is why its my favorite trail in Colorado.
