Default New from Castle Rock CO

    Hey All -

Just joined the forum today and so far it seems like an awesome place! I'm not a big forum guy but with all the runs, events, etc. that seem to go on here that will likely change. I just moved to Castle Rock CO in August 2013 but have been traveling in CO and southern UT for the past 3 or 4 years. Moab UT gets full credit for my decision to move to CO from the Chicago IL area last year. If anyone on this forum has not been - GO!!!!

I uploaded a picture of my truck (Xterra Pro 4X 2012) which was the only one that would fit. This pic was taken right after I bought it in Jan. 2013. Since then I installed a grill guard (for sale on Craigslist btw), installed full Schrockworks skid plates and slider bars (hence, removed all mud flaps, etc.). I also have a new front and rear bumper on order with them along with a winch. Schrockworks takes a LONG time to fill your orders but if you have not heard of them, check out their website (no I don't work for them). Their products are A+++!!!

Anyway, I will be sure to check in regularly about what you guys are up to in the front range area and see what runs are in the works. Thanks again for allowing me to join the club and I'm sure I will be meeting lots of you soon.

    Welcome to the group!

There are a fair bit of folks here from the Midwest. I'm from Rockford. Where "in the Chicago area" are you from?

I'm finding out quickly that there are a lot of midwesterners out here. We had a neighbor that was also from Rockford and still have one from Tinley Park. I grew up in Lombard, lived in Chicago briefly, and lived in Roselle for several years before we moved here. SO glad to be out of there and out here in Colorado now!

That would be great - but Red Cone? Seriously? I'm flattered that you think my Pro 4X could make it up that beast of a trail! I've actually been up there with my pseudo brother in law in his jeep. He's got massive tires, lifted, etc. so he was well equipped. We saw a new FJ Cruiser attempt it which didn't sound so new on its way back down toward Webster Pass. Honestly I think I could handle most of it except for the beginning - not sure I could handle driving over that mile or so of boulders!

Welcome to FR. You can get bumpers made here in the Springs for your X. Heftyfabworks.com does an excellent job on them & usually not quite as long getting them out to you. Their wait time is weeks not months.

Welcome Don, I am new here too. When we were at Metberry a few weeks back there was a group of really nice Xteras coming out. They were built pretty well and very impressive. I had a 2006 Frontier NISMO for a few years and it was great offroad.

You wouldn't have any problems on Red Cone, except maybe the pucker factor on the downhill side. I've done it open in my 30-year-old FJ40 with little 31-inch tires, and in my FJ Cruiser. http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showt...a-Stock-Xterra

    And welcome aboard.
