found a couple of good videos of the area
incase you were wondering if you're rig can drive on the sand...
this isn't the best quality video but it's a good perspective on how big the area is. It also makes me think Jim should bring his ultralite...![]()
last one, check out the flattie... and how easy it is for the F150 to stop and start there.
Nice vids Paul!
cool videos looks like it would be a blast.

Already can't wait to go!
ok so got my days off switched so I can make the run (stoked). Dont have a spare tire yet or replacement parts, has any one popped a bead or broke anything while they were there?

sure, people pop beads on sand, the last episode of expedition overland has a few minutes of it happenning. I hope you can make the sand dunes!! IMO,you really shouldn't go out anywhere without some basic equipment, and a spare tire is at the top of that list. I bet you can find one cheap here- Jim just gave away 3- or borrow one, but not having one is the kind of thing that can ruin your day in a hurry. Pete had a good list on here, if I can find it I'll link it. I'm wrenching on Sunday for this trip, I should look at it myself!
Been trying to find one, checking craigslist right now. Dont have the funds right now for extra axles and drive shafts yet.

Get some ujoints, it's cheaper for now and probably what you'll break. Since you're not locked I wouldn't worry too much about shafts, you'll probably get stuck first. I carry a few spares, and often you can rig something to move slowly, but atleast with 4 tires we can tow you back to the road. Your jeep can use other jeep's spares, like mine, and we can always deflate a larger spare to fit long enough to get off the trail. We're probably just going to have fun and not break anything, that's always the goal!!
saw your other post, I don't think my spare would work on yours, mine is 15" your brakes may be too big and need 16" rims. IDK.
I have a ARB tire plug kit. Will take care of small leaks.
They come in handy, hope we don't have to use it though.

i think this video starts at the powerline campground, waypoint 01 in the Wells book, but I'm not sure having never been there yet. I can't wait!!
I like it full screen and loud:
Looks like a blast for sure still trying to find a spare. Already picked up u joints. I always keep some wrenches and sockets in the jeep plus tow strap and first aid kit. Might have the wife and kids convinced on going.

I have a bunch of tools and parts and stuff, but the real asset on this trip is Brad- he's a mechanic who loves to work on other people's junk spontaneously and for free on his days off.![]()
I really cannot wait! These videos are only fueling the excitement! I may be stuck going up Friday morning. Will know more wed.
