Switzerland trail

So I went out to Switzerland trail for my 1st trip. Kind of. Turns out I drove some of this a few weeks ago but had no idea I was on it. So I started at trail head up gold hill this was all new to me. I was driving stock FJ cruiser. It was a fun day not too exciting I guess. I was taking it easy. I was most worried about would be tires. Not having a aggressive and more durable tire. I dunno if ppl air down for something like that but I'm sure the ride would've been a bit nicer. All in all it was a good trip. Fooled around in 4lo a bit too. I'm sure FJ is going to be great. I need tires, armoire and lift.

Awesome! My first 4x4 trip may have been on Switzerland in a GMC Sierra. Glad you went out!

Nice Donald, just take it one trail at a time . The rig is plenty capable, just need to get you comfortable with it as is . I do not air down, not until I get a lift and maybe bigger tires. I do not like scraping the undercarriage if possible( I know how that sounds).

I THINK Switerland was my first attempt ff-road as well when I bought my Jeep. I had the back bench out at the time for some reason, and my passenger was just a girlfriend of mine with no experience either...

We got flagged down by some kid on a bicycle with skinny tires who begged for a lift. SO... we took his front wheel off the bike, stuffed him and his 2-pc bike in the back and took him back to a paved road.

I completed the trail later in the year...

Switzerland Trail and Bunce School Road are great places for a first off-road experiences. They were mine too. Learn to air down, air back up, put it in 4-lo, go slow, think about the gear you should have with you, learn how to read a map, etc. Don't rush yourself.

My advice after "over-doing" my build and dealing with the resulting money pit... drive it for a year stock (I almost made it after 9 months) and then think very carefully about what you want your build to be like based on your experiences. It's more capable than you think.
