Well, it's the dining room, too (not that we use it for one, but that's where the table is). And I think it's the largest room in the house.

Well, after two weeks of not much going on with the kitchen remodel (as we waited for the countertops to be made), we now have new countertops and sink installed. Tile guy comes in Wednesday to do the backsplash, plumbing gets done and fancy faucet installed Thursday, and appliances will be delivered and installed Friday, along with any minor stuff that needs to be finished. We should have a functioning kitchen by Friday night.

Damn. The kitchen didn't get finished Friday. But the backsplash is done, undercounter lights are in and hooked up and the touch faucet is in (my wife's favorite thing in the whole wide room). The refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher are installed, but the gas line for the stove had the wrong connection on it, so the range is sitting in the middle of the kitchen for now. By midweek, it should be finished.

One thing we noticed yesterday. The door of the refrigerator sits about an inch and half above the top of the refrigerator, so the doors to the cabinet won't open. Wonder how they're going to fix that.

"Wonder how their going to fix that." Sawzall of course I have never seen doors go above the top of a fridge before!?!? Trim the cabinet or replace with a smaller cabinet, but trimming would look obvious, I am thinking they need to get you a smaller cabinet to go there to match the trim on the doors of the rest of the cabinets. Looking really good though!!

    Exactly my thought!

But then, the sawzall will be held by a "professional" that you are "paying" and that makes all the difference.

Any thought to adding an undercounter light just to the right of the range/m-wave??? It looks like it could use one for balance (and illumination) on that wall. Of the counter space, I'd think "that spot" will be a high use area (for night time snacks).

aside from that it looks GREAT!! You certianly didn't cheap out on the appliances, they're beautiful. I can see how they made that mistake, that's the first time I've seen doors taller than the fridge, but it's not MY job to know those things... It looks like something like the ones over the microwave would be a better fit.

would be pretty cool to have a handle at the top so that as you pull handle out bottom goes up to give access to cabinets above fridge. Other than that I agree cabinets would need to be changed to match rest of kitchen.

Those under counter lights are cheap, I am used to seeing them under each cabinet just for this reason, on top of illumination needs . Paul has already fixed the problem....is that your job Paul?

Bingo! They're going to a shorter cabinet, like the one over the microwave, to go over the refrigerator.

It looks amazing. Love the wood, the tile, and the stainless. So cool! A touch faucet? I can see playing with that for quite some time.

Good move. When we bought our house, it was nearly impossible to find a fridge that would fit in the space (and not be too small). I'd rather have a small gap on top than settle for a smaller fridge and have gaps all over the place.
