Happy New Year Chris! I miss wheeling with you. You were a great teacher! I hope you're doing great and luvin' life in Florida.
Been busting my hump designing and building a new H press for the shop. Here are the outer plates I designed today. These will cover the I beams on each side of them. Since I plan on keeping this around a while, I wanted to add a couple personal touches.
Top plates (about 52" x 10"):
Bottom (about 52" x 20"):
Now I just gotta find time to get them cut out and welded in.
Lumberjacking - rally car style
(good that both are in reasonable condition - navigator might have a leg/foot injury)

EDIT: The video has been pulled by the author so I'll kill it from here. The title of it is a line above if you wish to search for something similar.
Who's NOT watching the game or commercials?
I'm going to hop into the car and go for a ride - northwest perhaps... Walden / Laramie / Snowy Range ??????
Going skiing...but that's pretty much normal on any given weekend. Might listen to a bit of the game on radio in way home.

The only sport I watch is MMA, all the ball-based stuff bores me. Going hiking!
Went skiing and enjoyed the light crowds on the slopes.

`went for a ride in the car. Visited 80C / Cherokee Park - the maintained section and 300 yards of the no-winter-maintenance section. A small stuck (dropped one wheel off of the road into sugar snow) that the jeep's tire changes helped (laid them out in front of the drive wheels and drove onto them). I then headed north of Laramie and took a new-to-me road WY-34 (Bosler to Wheatland) over Morton Pass and then took I-25 home.
This came to me tonight (I could see someone here doing this)...
Was out walking my pup when a woman came flying past us on a bike around a blind corner. As she passed I yelled , " COW !! " . She turned around , flipped me off , and then plowed right into the cow . At least I tried ...

Looking at purchasing a new air compressor for the shop. Something with a little more cfm than my current setup. My current setup isn't bad at all, 5hp 80 gal that does about 15 scfm @ 90 psi. But it is over 10 years old and has been worked hard every year and probably isn't putting that much out anymore. Anywho, will probably replace with close to the same but something with a little more scfm. But the question remains, what to do with the old compressor?
Go through the hassle of selling for a couple hundred bucks? Keep and plumb 2 compressors into my current setup? Or keep and pull the components off of the old one and plumb the tank into my current setup for more capacity?
Selling sounds great, but then comes dealing with the general idiotic public.
2 compressors intrigues me as I could double the cfm and capacity with different pressure switches and a couple of check valves. But seems like a waste of space for something that really isn't needed. Plus it would take some time for me to plumb, and time is short these days.
And more capacity sounds great, but I worry about killing the new motor and pump faster than normal due to them having to run longer during normal cycles. Plus, this option seems silly when I could plumb in the working compressor and gain the advantages of that. Only thing it would save is running another 220v line and breaker.
We run a screw type compressor at the shop and DAMN it’s quite..
